Donda 2 Experience
On January 27, 2021 Kanye West took to Instagram to announce his Donda 2 album, produced by Future. As anticipation for the album built, internal conversations led to a stadium show to follow up Ye’s Free Larry Hoover performance. Given the time of year and the album’s recording location, Miami was the clear candidate and Loan Depot Park, home of the Marlins, was chosen as the venue. Ye looked to build upon the creative of past listening experiences, which were based around his childhood home in Chicago. West tapped Niklas and Sub Global yet again to bring the creative to life. Their team concepted the show’s infamous scenic, featuring Ye’s house engulfed in flames while floating on smoke covered body of water. In under a week, PHNTM led a 120-person crew to produce a global live stream to over 6 million viewers in 22 countries. The production featured 19 cameras, a cable cam, two 60’ cranes, and multiple robotic camera systems. In addition to distribution across Amazon and Twitch, this was the first concert to ever be live-streamed directly to IMAX, thrilling 18,000 viewers in 55 theaters across the United States.
